Buckeye Furnace

Buckeye Furnace is an old historical site in the hills of southeastern Ohio where iron ore was extracted to make pig iron over a hundred years ago. We visited this place to see a Civil War encampment, but just one lone soldier had braved the chilly weather to be there. We spoke with him at length, then he shared his Facebook and invited Dusty to join his ranks. Later, I found an actual buckeye freshly fallen from the tree.
