My Home Sweet Home, In a Few Photographs

I found these photos while transferring my digital files to discs. I am a little homesick for Colorado!

Evolution of Military Air Technology

As a way to get to know Ohio, one of my Goals for the year is to visit a unique park, museum or landmark each month. This goal commenced on the 27th of January when Dusty and I went to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton.

It was my first time, but he had been here before, so it was fun for me to watch his excitement as we approached the giant hangers. I am not really a planes-person like Dusty is, so he was my personal tour guide, and it was very educational for me.

When asked later what my favorite planes in the museum were, I answered: the earliest ones. I marveled at how the first incredibly new and comical flying contraptions had evolved into seriously dangerous military weapons in just a few decades. They were so cute when they were little, before the Wright brothers from Ohio taught the U.S. Army how to use them. Wrestling with the ever-present human war-making tendency, I left the museum with a heavy heart.

Flinging and Building a Resume

I spent the morning honing my resume and building a cover letter. My goal is to start working in the field of education where I can share my love of learning with the kids. I've never officially worked with children before, outside of occasional babysitting, but I hope someone in the public schools of Circleville will give me the opportunity to begin. Until I know if I am accepted at the Ohio State University, I will stay busy doing what I do best.

Meanwhile, I've flung countless garbage bags of things we don't need such as clothes we haven't worn in ten years, extra dishes and utensils, unneeded odds and ends that are sometimes unidentifiable, spare cables from equipment we no longer have... etc. Our hoarding tendencies were magnified when we lived in our own house with potential to add on and grow. But now, with little room to work with, it's the perfect time to fling!

After a month in Ohio

Well, it's been a whole month since our move to Ohio, and I've seen the sun shining only a handful of times - today being one of them. Oh, precious sunshine! It's very wet here. There is always snow on the ground or snow falling from the always-cloudy skies. Toss and Donna have been outside a few times, but they aren't sure about suburbia yet.

Although I hardly ever see people outdoors, I know they live all around us. The grocery store is a half-mile down the road, so I've developed a habit of walking there a few times each week. I only buy what I can carry home, which means I am more likely to buy items that will get used, so nothing goes bad in our refrigerator.

We have made ourselves at home in a duplex in Circleville. It's not a large space but it's sufficient. Dusty enjoys his work, and I am looking for employment nearby. I'm still unpacking and throwing things away, attempting to simplify our lives by decluttering and focusing on modesty and practicality.

This is a brief update and I will write more later, but for now this is all I can think of to say.
